Electric Bikes – The Green Alternative

Instead of buying a second car, a practical, environment friendly alternative means of commuting might be a great option for you! It is not just cost effective but healthy as well! Get to look down some of the facts why you should give an electric bike a thought.

1.       It is Cheaper to buy!

Everybody knows that owning a car may cost you a small fortune. Bank loans could even increase your expenses over time because of interests and penalties if you are unable to pay your due on time.

2.       Much Less Environment Footprint to Manufacture.

Imagine the raw materials used in making a single car. Think about how much could it take from the natural resources and the effect of it’s by product as well! With the same note, the manufacture of an e bike may just be the same as the cost of manufacturing a single door of the same car.

3.       Zero Pollution.

Since electric bikes are powered by batteries (and you as well), there are no harmful emissions and chemicals released in the air and the environment.

4.       Road friendly.

Considering the overall construction of an electric bike, its weight and maximum speed, you don’t really expect a life threatening mishap if ever you came into an accident unlike that of a car. Because of its light weight, it is less likely to wear down a road than a heavier car, reducing taxpayers cost for road maintenance and repairs.

5.       Healthy.

Need I say more the benefits of exercise to your body and attitude as well? You would be able to rid of yourself of that stubborn beer belly once and for all, and in a good way! Study show that people who exercise more are more active, efficient, have lesser off time from work than those who don’t.

6.       Cheap to operate.

A car uses fuel to propel. Gasoline and diesel fuel might cost less than last year but for $0.10 a charge for an electric bike, we can see who wins at the expense category right away.

You can’t obviously use an electric bike as your car can do such as driving cross country, or hauling people and stuff but that’s why you have your first car in the first place! Get to experience a different way of commuting. Find yourself an electric bike, who knows, you might like it you will use it more often than your car!

A bike that matches Your Personality

There are different kinds of bikes that serve a multitude of function. Just like cars, each bicycle is catered for its purpose. A van for example is ideal for ferrying a number of people, a truck for things or equipment, a minivan is optimal for family transport, a dump truck is mainly designed for wastes disposal, and a lot more. We will learn the different kinds of bike which are commonly used and we will discover some old and even new varieties like the electric bikes.

1.       Road bikes. Bikes designed for fast and distance races. It has a   very light weight frame for climbing over hills and humps. These are the bikes used for competition just like what Lance Armstrong uses. They have hard thin tires which are very ideal for high speed. The hard tires cannot tolerate off road riding as it will be very uncomfortable for the rider. It has a looped handle bar and the seats are installed higher than the handles.

2.       Cruiser bikes. A comfortable bike for riding on bike paths or flat pavement. It may have a single or a couple gear for adjusting speed. They usually have big tires and are common in cities and urban setting.

3.       Mountain bikes. A mountain bike typically has shock absorbers on the front tires although others may have in the rear as well. They can absorb a lot of abuse since it can be ridden off road. It is quite heavy than the rest of the bikes mainly because of the parts which are made of heavier sturdier material. It can be quite comfortable to ride since the seats allow the rider to sit upright. It can be quite slow because of its weight but some mountain bikes have 27 speed gear variations.

4.       Recumbent Bikes. Funny looking bikes which have the pedal on the front tires. It has seats with thick padded or a cushion which allows the rider to lean back for an even more comfortable ride. Good for people suffering from back pains.

5.       Hybrid bikes. Bikes with parts taken from a mountain bike and road bikes. Depending on your preference a hybrid bike may only be advantageous if you plan to spend long trips with it such as interstate biking. It is quite faster and a bit lighter than average mountain bikes; however they are quite expensive as it may cost twice as much as a regular mountain bike.

6.       Electric Bikes. A newer advance option than your typical bicycle. It has a brush less motor powered by a battery. An electric bike can reach speeds of 35 km/h for 30 to 40 km at a single charge, with the minimal effort on the part of the rider. They are the most expensive of the bicycles but it is mainly of the reinforced material installed, the motor and battery. It s great for commuting as it doesn’t strain the rider as much like the conventional bicycle does.

Electric Vehicles – The Future of Transportation

Green is in. And so that is what the future points us to. Some scientists conclude that the possibility of world population to totally consume fossil fuel may just last 30 years or so. With the advancement of third world countries and the modernization of China as one of the top populous nation, the consumption of fossil fuel is at the all time high! Imagine millions of cars at a grinding halt because there is no petrol to make it run? How would people react to this? Is there really hope for the human race to move on?

This scenario is at hand and we are about to see it sooner or later than expected. We might be able to conform with the changing times as civilization has done before. As we adopt, we find ways to replace fossil fuel thru different kinds of renewable energy, modern technology and ground breaking innovation. Today’s advancement in these fields is only limited by the discoveries we had made in the past and our imagination we at the present and the dream we hope for the future. Some technology slowly takes root and creates small but lasting impact. Solar power and electric power the top choices of renewable energy that is feasible to be integrated into cars----- people’s most popular mode of transport.

Solar power now takes a lot of surface space versus the amount of power it can produce. It may be practical to use on some air planes since its top wide wings can be fitted with an array photo sensitive cells that produces energy as it is exposed to light. The air plane’s light weight construction also adds positively on its possibility. But not anyone can afford an airplane. Installing the same technology on cars will be impractical since cars have lesser surface area. The existing solar cell we have cannot generate enough power to sustain the propulsion of cars.

Electric power seems to be the most promising technology to best substitute fossil fuel. Some big car companies have successfully integrated this system together with the conventional internal combustion engine called hybrid cars. They are quite costly than standard cars but promise to pay for itself from the efficiency and lastingness of fuel consumption. There are actually a vast amount of electric vehicles in use today. Advancement on batteries will eventually revolutionize this concept.

One day we will see electric vehicles that do not need to be recharge since it recharges itself as it runs. When that time comes, then we might just survive another 2000 years on this planet without ever going to the gas station ever again.

Electric Bikes. The IRON MAN of bikes

The emergence of modern technology had finally reached the humble bicycle. Ever since the wheel was invented man had imagined for an inexpensive and convenient way of transport hence the invention of the bicycle. For years it has been the common mans’ means of going from one point to another. The time has come for a new age of innovation that had taken these pedal warriors to the next level. Enter the e bikes.

electric bikes
Electric Bikes or E bikes are generally your common bike with a brushless electronic motor or any compact light and powerful motor hooked up in the hub of your back wheels. Sensors in the hand grips crank or at the back of the gears generally control the amount of power from the battery to the motors which varies the speed you desire. Pedaling these electronic bikes is amazingly light and putting on even more pressure on the pedals somewhat increases the speed dramatically. This human factor still gives the rider the feeling of control but with aid of the motor, is a fun and enjoyable experience.

The power that drives these electric bikes obviously comes from the batteries. The better kind batteries you have, the more efficient your electronic motor perform and the more distance you cover. Batteries are the main life of these babies and the kind and power output may differ from one type to the other.

Homemade power source may come from scooters, mopeds, motorcycle or any other equipment or machines found anywhere such as the commonly used lead acid batteries. The downside is these old batteries can only deliver as much power. The good news however is that high end electronic bikes already incorporated lithium ion and even the game changing lithium polymer rechargeable batteries that gives amazing power-to-weight output  with as little as a couple of hours charging time. These electronic bikes can cover as much as 35 to 40 miles with a single charge! Carry on a spare battery and its 70 to 80 miles, saving you money for petrol and zero emission guilt free ride.

Electronic bikes are indeed here and its popularity is slowly but steadily catching up. I can see its future and its relevance as the times of environmental consciousness starts to seep in mind of people and culture with the passing of time. Petrol will eventually be very expensive for most motorists. Who knows the first electronic vehicle you may have is an e bike and I guarantee you it would be if not as much, even more fun than riding your scooter.
